A special Xmas 10% off everything this weekend on my shop, prints, posters and the all important XL stockings designed by Jenny Bowers and myself. Just use code MWXMAS10 last day for 1st class post is 20th December... Get to it!
I am not a big fan of celebrating Xmas early, a week before is plenty of time to get the decorations up. However I don't like the idea of the last minute dash so it's good to get the preparations done early. With this in mind I have collaborated with the brilliant Jenny Bowers to create this Xmas stocking, available now on my shop.
A busy day at the studio finishing off lot's of bits and bobs and generally feeling full of cold. Here is a cover I produced through my design Studio New Future Graphic. It is for a new map of Clandestine London for Herb Lester Associates, available on their site...
As party of my community design project (it's either this or clip art fudged together on a PC!) I have designed the local Fireworks display poster. Not screen printed this time unfortunately.
My new show has opened at the Material Gallery in Ludlow. Thanks to Lucy & Joe for organising and providing a cider fueled private view on Friday night. The show is running until Nov 5th. Limited edition hand printed notebooks and tea towels will be available on my shop this week.
Certainly unplanned, and hopefully magic! Its my new joint show with the extremely talented artist and fellow screen printer Kate Gibb. We are having simultaneous exhibitions in Ludlow and even have some collaborative screen prints on offer - more information soon...
I designed the local Fete poster, which is a nice two colour screen print. It's nice to use old media for traditional events, now if I can just get my hands on some of that woodblock type rumoured to be withing spitting distance of my studio... and it goes without saying if you live in the area, pop along and you can have one.
One of my last Autumn prints is up for auction at The 100 Project in aid of The Princes Drawing school. They are aiming to send 100 kids from the east end to school, so a good cause.
After the recent €100 show in Amsterdam comes the 100 Project at Poke London. I have been asked to contribute some artwork among other great artists. the site is launching next Tuesday: http://www.the100project.co.uk/
I am just gearing up to install a new mini show at an agency in London this week. I have dipped into my many (Zap) sketch books to create a wall of images. Since I found the french Zap Books, I have used no other for recording ideas.
I created a new alphabet for a prospective client last year... needless to say it didn't happen. A year later I am picking it back up to complement the other (self initiated) book projects I am working on at the moment.
I hate going a whole month without any posts - so I must try and post more in June. First up here is a card design I recently did for Cherry, my little girl. A version is soon to be released through Toasted Cards.
I had the pleasure to spend the day at Bath Spa uni with amazing screen print artist Kate Gibb. We hosted a day of freestyle screen printing with students, it was a great chance to experiment and get our hands dirty. Bath has a great reputation for talented students as you can see from some of the students work. Can't wait to go back.
Print Okushon has been set up to help raise money for the victims of the recent catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. A multitude of talented illustrators and designers (and me) have been asked to kindly donate a print that will be auctioned off via ebay over the coming weeks. http://www.print-okushon.co.uk
A few years ago, when I used to work in publishing I used to art-direct issues of The Illustrated Ape. I found these early flat plans for the 1976 issue, which if you ever saw it would corellate quite well to the finished magazine. The Ape is on hold for the time being but I hope to return one day and create one more mega issue.
A new print coming soon to the shop - and probably part of a new exhibition called "Yesterday's Tomorrow is Today", my first exhibition where I live in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. More details soon...
